Our organization is about others, not just ourselves. That’s the nature of service. Here are a few of the movement principles discovered over the years by our partners on the ground:
A Culture of Empowerment – Encourage and equip new people immediately. Don’t wait for perfection. “Groups who hold a high standard of qualifications for service always experience relatively slow growth.”
Relate Personally to Friends and Relatives – Personal stories of impact in our own lives impact others. “Speaking from the mind touches the mind, but speaking from the heart touches the heart.”
Partnership – We know we can’t do this alone. Local ownership is needed, too. “If we owned it, we wouldn’t be able to carry it.” We are designed to “strengthen the service of the local partner, not our organization.” We believe in collaboration.
“Movements move.” I believe that sums it up.
