Youth Sports

We believe growth occurs in community. Development takes place through partnership and connection: connecting people to resources and support networks. We foster relationships by creating opportunities for community engagement and participation in areas affected by poverty. The urban slums of North India can be spaces of extreme scarcity. In the urban slums, children and teenagers grow up surrounded by circumstances that appear hopeless and overwhelming which negatively impacts their growth and development.

Sports workshops are one way in which we combat the impact of poverty, creating opportunities for community engagement that lead to transformational development. Our workshops help teenagers learn new skills, discover the importance of teamwork and build friendship through sports. Inviting youth from the slums to participate in a sports workshop allows them to be brought into relationship with their peers in a supportive, instructive environment.

Through sports youth can come together and find purpose; they can develop their strength and mobility, supporting their physical health. It not only enhances their physical development but their mental health as well. Most importantly, sports can help cultivate essential life skills and character development like discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. They teach communication skills and problem-solving. They develop trust and interdependence as they grow in friendship and camaraderie.

Every community we work with faces unique needs. Our approach is meant to be wholistic - we believe that in order to have a long-term impact, we must understand the multifaceted and specific concerns of each community we seek to serve. Only then can we seek to find transformational solutions.
